Church Street Plaza, a major mixed-use project in downtown Evanston, opened to the public in phases starting in November 2000. Arthur Hill & Co LLC (AHC) was selected from among several prominent companies to develop this public/ private undertaking on land formerly owned by Northwestern University and the City of Evanston. Situated on a triangular parcel between the Davis Street station of the Chicago Transit Authority and the Metra commuter rail station, Church Street Plaza (designed by ELS/Elbasani & Logan Architects) was the first and largest element of a successful effort to reinvent and revitalize downtown Evanston as a retail and entertainment destination. Church Street Plaza is anchored by Century Theatres, which offers state-of-the-art Art House and General Audience cinemas totaling 3,400 seats in 18 auditoriums, and features several other carefully selected destination retailers and restaurants, including Borders, Urban Outfitters, Bravo! Cucina Italiana and Buffalo Wild Wings. The development project also includes a Hilton Garden Inn with 178 guest rooms and conference facilities, 205 luxury condominiums, and a 1,400-car parking garage.

AHC has managed the daily operations and asset management of Church Street Plaza since it opened. In 2006, AHC sold a substantial minority interest in the property to Grosvenor Americas USA, Inc., a major international investor with real estate holdings around the world.
